2. Fishing and Cooking. Most players skill up cooking as they level their toons because it’s easy, but not many level up their fishing, as this profession skills up really slow and it’s pretty boring. However, if you have these two professions maximized, make sure you learn the Fish Feast cooking recipe, because this raiding food is on high demand on any server and a very profitable item to sell. The fish you need for it are: Glacial Salmon, which can be caught in Grizzly Hills, Musselback Sculpin from Borean Tundra and the Nettlefish from Sholazar.

3. Wintergrasp for Alchemists and Herbalists. Wintergrasp is a good area, as this excellent WoW gold guide taught me, to farm herbs for flasks and potions. However, you won’t find any Adder’s Tongue here, but your main goal should be the Frost Lotus flowers anyway. On World of Warcraft, something that you can count on is the DarkMoon Faire, it comes every month, over and over like clockwork. And with the DarkMoon Faire comes a huge opportunity for gold-making.

Even with all the changes in World of Warcraft since Wrath of the Lich King expansion came out, there’s still a lot of fast gold to be made by hanging around, camping the vendors, and buying up stocks of limited supply items at the Darkmoon Faire.

Of all the WoW gold guides that I have encountered, the best DarkMoon Faire strategy comes from Jonathan Kenins in his complete walkthrough of the DarkMoon Faire in the Massive Gold Blueprint. He has a series of step-by-step videos where he talks about how the Wrath of the Lich King economy has changed the DarkMoon Faire gold-making strategy.

The short story is this: it is still possible to make a lot of profit at the Faire. It may not be quite as good as it used to be, but it’s definitely still worth spending time at DMF every time it comes around.

It’s still possible to make a good amount of gold by camping the Exotic Goods vendors, Lhara and Professor Thaddeus for their limited supply items. You’ll find these NPCs in a booth at the back of the DarkMoon Faire.

Herbs like Dreamfoil, Frost Lotus, Goldclover, Adder’s Tongue, Netherbloom, Black Lotus, Terocone, Wild Steelbloom, Deadnettle, and Ghost Mushroom are worth keeping your eye on. So are lower level-herbs like Earthroot, Khadgar’s Whisker, and Mageroyal.

Turn some profit with elementals such as Crystallized Earth, Crystallized Fire, Crystallized Life, and Crystallized Air. They are not very good gold-makers but they’re still pretty decent when it comes to making gold. You can also gives Motes a try, they’re older and less desirable but they can still turn a good profit on a lot of servers, focus on selling Motes of Fire and Motes of Air.

Leathers aren’t a big deal in the DarkMoon Faire, you can still make some gold by buying and selling leather items such as the Knothide Leather and the Rugged Leather. However, the real star of the DarkMoon Faire leathers is the Arctic Fur. This leather item rarely appears in Lhara’s booth, but if you do see it, you should grab it up because you can sell it in the auction house for 25 gold and up.

There are items to avoid because you might end up losing gold than gaining some. Avoid all of the gems, including Dawnstone, Nightseve, Star of Elune, Talasite, Living Ruby and Noble Topaz. These gems go for 12g each at the Faire, but they won’t sell for anything near that amount of gold in the auction houses. Avoid scrolls at all cost, scrolls are not worth it anymore ever since Inscription came out.

While you’re at the Faire, try to catch Flik if you can. You can get Wood Frogs and Tree Frogs from him, and you should definitely stock up on these items most especially the Wood Frog Box because it’s limited supply and you can get a lot of gold by selling them gradually through the month after the DarkMoon Faire has ended.

With the changed economy because of Wrath of the Lich King, gold from the DarkMoon Faire has decreased a lot. Pre-WotLK, you can easily earn 600g to 1000g a day, now the best you can hope for is around 500g or so. That’s still good though, even if it’s not quite as good as it used to be. Its still a fair amount of gold to run with… so its definitely not a waste to spend your time on.
