Taking regular exercise is my first tip. I don’t mean a walk to the store once a week, real exercise done regularly so you feel the benefits.

If you are getting yourself all worked up because nothing is working yet, you will just make yourself worse. Ok, so exercise and tea didn’t work, so now try meditation. Seriously, this is a centuries old method of relaxation that has many known benefits and its advocates recommend it to everyone.

Music is an incredibly powerful medium, and lying down in a room with music playing in the background will relax both your body and mind. If you fancy being a bit more adventurous learn to play an instrument. Your stress levels will fall to an all time low and you will have accomplished something as well.

Now you’ve read through all these strategies, you may be chomping at the bit to get in there and try them. A word of warning, with the exception of the tea, only choose one and stick to it. You need to spend a lot of time doing these techniques, and if you try and do two or three you’ll be stressing out by trying to keep them all going, so only one at a time.

John’s Pizza, which can be found in the West Village on Bleecker Street, is another place you may want to try. Often referred to as one of the best pizzerias in all of Manhattan, you will see that there is usually a long line to stand in and wait for this delicious pizza.

Another must try in the city is its bagels. If you find yourself uptown, you should definitely try to get to an H&H Bagels location.

And when you are downtown, be sure to go to one of the Murray’s Bagels stores on the West side. They taste so good when they are nice and hot, and there are several spreads for your to choose from that will go nicely on them.

Craving a burger? NYC is home to some of the best in the world, and many believe that the finest are offered at Shake Shack. There are two main locations that you may be able to get to pretty easily.

Madison Square Park is where one is located at. It is right inside this park and does not have any seating indoors, so this isn’t going to be good for you if it is cold outside.

The Upper West Side is where the other Shake Shack is located at. This location is indoors so the weather wouldn’t matter in this case. You will really enjoy the awesome burgers, as well as the shakes and fries, no matter which one you choose to go to.

The Science Regarding Carbohydrates In Weight Loss Efforts

If you’re trying to lose weight it’s important to keep a tab on how many carbohydrates, or carbs, you eat every day. Carbohydrates are foods such as cookies, breads, fruit, pasta and potatoes.

The sugars and starch in these foods are broken down in your body and transformed into glucose. Your brain and muscles rely on glucose as a kind of fuel that keeps them working at peak performance.

Any glucose that isn’t used immediately by your body is stored in the form of glycogen. It’s kept in your liver and muscles as a reserve of energy.

About half of your body’s daily glycogen requirements can be stored in this way. However, if you eat more carbohydrates than you can burn off or store as glycogen, then whatever’s left will be turned into fat. This is what you don’t want to happen if you’re trying to reduce your waistline.

Let’s take a closer look at carbohydrates, which exist in both ’simple’ and ‘complex’ forms.

Very sweet foods such as cookies, sugar, fruit, candy and honey are known as simple carbohydrates. This is because the energy they provide is passed almost instantly into the bloodstream to give our muscles their power.
