Do not worry about it too much that you are the parent of an angry teenager. This is not a highly unusual occurrence. You wish that everything was just a happy old time, but for the time being it isn’t. But there are things that you can do to raise the chances that everything will be good for both of you. Show love

Having a parent that is caring and loving and shows his concern for him is good for an angry teen. Make sure that your teen knows that you he has your love care and concern. If it does not today, know that one day it will mean a lot to him.

Stay cool

When you become angry at with your teenager, take care that you do not shout at him. Shouting says that you are out of control, and it makes other people angry. Shouting at him will make your teen rebel against you.

Respect him

Don’t just love and have concern for your teen, you need to also respect him. Your respect will play a big role in causing him to respect your influence and in return respect you as well.

Respecting yourself

If you and your teen are going to work together you both need to have respect for each other. So this means that you are not going to allow him to ignore you or raise his voice at you etc. It should also be understood that because he is angry does not excuse him from completing his household responsibilities to the family.

Stand up to him. Don’t be a wimp to him.

Understand him

Work at understanding where his anger is coming from. Know that if you ask him why he is mad it is unlikely that he will tell you. You will need to spend a little bit of time observing what he does.

There are many angry teens in the world, but then you still need to ask whether or not your teen is one of them. And my guess is that you are wondering if your teen can be classified as an angry teen because when he was a child there was just no way that you thought that your little precious would grow into the strange person that he is becoming.

These ideas are not the only ways to tell if an anger problem is there and needs to be treated, however if these two symptoms are present the signs are that you should look further into sorting out your teens’ anger.

Physical fights

How frequently does your teenager get involved in physical fights with other people? There are some teens that never fight, and there are some who fight on a regular basis. By saying regular, it can be as frequently as weekly or more.

Now sometimes when teens fight, it is to them more a game than a serious matter, but there are also a set of teens that fight with all of their passion and once the fight begins they want to hurt someone. If this is your teen that you are reading about, then do him a favor and help him learn to control and manage his anger.

Temper loss

How much does it take for him to lose his temper? Do small issues cause him to lose it? When his temper is lost how much time does it take for him to get calm again? Too long?

You might even be living a series where one person gets on your nerves and you take out your anger on another person.

Expressing Anger In Productive Ways

Anger is emotion that everybody has in varying degrees, and one thing we all do is express anger. The problem is however that we all do not express anger in ways that are good for us and the people around us. This article talks about the good and the bad parts of expressing anger, and how you can do it so that your anger is not a problem.

Three ways to express anger

Anger is expressed in three main ways. By some people it is expressed outwardly, others express it inwardly, and other people calm it down.

Outward expressions are shown when you scream, become sarcastic, insulting, threatening or violent.

The outward expression is a bad way of dealing with anger. It often leads to a variety of different problems. One of the biggest problems with it is that your anger levels go up, and it often creates situations where other people react angrily toward you.

Anger that is expressed inwardly is different but it too is dangerous. Inwardly expressed anger leads to the formation of rage and major illnesses like high blood pressure and depression.

Controlled anger is another form of anger expression. This is a better way to express anger. It is better because the chances of you getting sick from it are not as high. This form is also not likely to have another person react with anger toward you.

How To Express Anger Correctly…

If you are going to get into the habit of expressing your anger correctly, you are going to have to learn to control the gap or time period between the time you start to feel angry, and the time you respond to it.

There are a number of different anger management strategies that will get you doing this, but to make a quick recommendation I suggest you do two things…first when the situations arise stop what you are doing and take a few deep breaths and then count to ten or more until you are calm enough to give a gentle answer.

Second, if you find that you have a problem, or if you are about to lose something important to you from being angry, then do an anger management class. These classes are surveyed to be more than 95% effective when it comes to changing attitude and behavior. And another good thing about them is they do their work in a short amount of time. They only need two months to work.

People use three basic categories to describe the expressions of anger. They are categorized as outward expressions, inward expressions and controlling or calming is the third one.

Outward…

The outward expression is characterized by what we think is the normal way that anger is expressed. It involves shouting, threatening, sometimes sarcasm, and sometimes violence. Of the three forms of anger expression it is either the second or third worse form, depending upon how it is done.

Inward…

An inward expression of anger is a second type of expression. This form describes an anger that you do not talk about to anyone, but you keep it inside you. It leads to some of the more terrible forms of illnesses, including heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure and strokes.

You may think that this form of expression only affects you when you act this way, but the other danger associated with this type is that the anger that is kept in often times grows until it is past anger and is turning into rage.

Calming…

When you work at calming your anger, you have just chosen the best form of expression there is. This method involves being assertive, but not aggressive. Another benefit of this method is that you also reduce the chances of acting in a way whereby another person becomes angry and returns that anger back toward you.

You will also recognize that when used correctly, you would not encounter the situation of the same person doing the same thing again. This expression has a way of getting to the bottom of problems and solving them.

How to do it…

If you are going to be good at expressing your anger in good ways, you need to be good at controlling the gap between the time you are annoyed and the time you respond to it.

After you are calm you can then return and fix the situation.

Relax

Relaxing is something that you can be proactive about. You do not have to wait until angered before you relax yourself.

Even when you are calm you should make it your business to take time daily to relax yourself. Mind and body.
