How To Do Anonymous Phone Calls
Did you ever receive one of those calls where the number was withheld? Or the ones that seemed to come from abroad only to hear a local voice on the other end of the line? If you have as we all have done then you have been spoof called.
An email that appears to be sent from one address and turns out to be from somewhere completely different is referred to as a spoof email. Likewise a telephone call that is not what it appears to be is called a spoof call.
It is far too easy now to ring somebody and when they look at the caller ID all they see is not your actual number but that of another person or even a non existent number.
It has even been noted that you can also spoof your voice when calling people. For example if you are a man calling somebody you can in fact make it sound as though you are a child, a woman or even a machine to the person receiving the call. This may sound a fun thing to do but it can be very harmful too.
So how is this done? Well one way to do this is to buy a card that is currently available from online stores. The card works in a similar way to a normal VOIP card and can cost in the region of $10 for about 60 minutes call time. Once you have the card you can actually customize it so that the person receiving the calls only sees the ID that you want them to see.
Many organizations and companies worldwide do use these techniques and hold back their number as they may not want their phone number on public file for one reason or another. But as with anything there are always two sides to things and the down side of this concept is that criminals may get their hands on these cards to impersonate other people’s voices. If this was possible to do as has been reported, then it would leave people open to having their voice mail boxes accessed by these criminals.
This is not as serious as having certain criminals ringing people up and using the caller ID of the banks. In this way they may trick people into believing that they are from their bank and could in fact get them to divulge their bank details to them. They could also be used to scare people with nasty prank calls.
Therefore what initially looks like it can be quite good harmless fun can often have a very serious underside to it.
