September 30th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Arts & Entertainment

In watching a magic show, one wonders if there are beginner magic tricks that are simpler. Have you ever wondered, when watching a magic show, how the person did the trick? The magic tricks you see on the stage are done with the art of illusion and a bit of acting skill on the magician’s part. Everyone starts at the beginning just like everything else in life. So there are tricks that are designed for the beginning magician. The following are tricks are such beginning magic tricks.

The first one is called “The Lighting of a Used Match”.The tools needed are:candle ,matchbox ,black colored ink .This simple trick doesn’t need much in the way of tools, mostly just preparation. Before you perform this trick for your audience, you need to dip the matches in the black ink. This is so the matches look used. When this has been done, you are ready. The rest is your acting skills. A good beginning is to say to them: “I am now going to light the candle.” Then act as though you are shocked to see the used matches instead. Then tell them that you are sorry that all the matches are used; however, you can still light the candle using the used matches. Then strike the match. This should wow the audience.

The following trick, “The Disappearing Coin” involves the following tools : Coins, table. Not very much to work with, right? Wrong, it rests how well you can act and get the fans predicting the trick. To do the job, you’ll place the coin down on the table and then, using your first three fingers, press down on the coin. Meanwhile, you are sliding the coin towards you. When the coin reaches the fringe of the table, you want to drop it onto your lap. In the meantime you want to press your thumb against your fingers as if you’re going to pick up the coin. Then raise your now empty hand in the air. When this done, blow on your hand, open the empty hand and permit your audience see the empty hand. This is bound to galvanize them. This is one of the oldie but goodies of beginner magic tricks that you have to have seen many times and marvelled how it was done. Now you know.

This trick involves a little practice before performing it. It is called “The Balloon That Will not Pop.” This trick requires the following : inflated balloon, large needle, transparent tape. To get ready for the trick, you want to place the tape uniformly over the balloon so there are no leakages. This is where a little bit of practice comes in. You must bide your time and take it slow. You want to be as careful as practical rolling the pin into the inflated balloon where you’ve got the tape. This is so that the tape keeps the seal on the balloon.

The last one is the “The Incredible Coin Balance.” This one is where a coin stays balanced in the palm of your hand. This one involves using: A large coin such as a half dollar, a pin that is straight. This one is going to take some practice before you get the illusion down pat as you want to keep the pin concealed. To start, you remove a coin from the pocket, showing it to your audience. Meanwhile, get the audience going on how you are going to keep the coin standing up just with the use of your mind. To begin the trick, you need to place the coin on your fingertips that are face-up. The pin is concealed under the coin that is between the fingers.

This is where the practice comes in…Raise both the coin and the pin at the same time so that the coin is standing straight and the pin is supporting the coin using the other hand. When in position, remove the other hand leaving the coin “standing on its edge.” It seems awesome right, yeah you do this beginner magic tricks with some practice. Every one starts at the beginning just as with everything else in life. Although the above tricks don’t seem like beginner magic tricks, they are. They just practice to pull them off with ease.

Give Away Imprinted Backpacks And Messenger Bags For Brand Awareness

September 30th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Advertising

With diverse business gifts to choose from, why does it make sense to use promotional messenger bags and backpacks to promote brand awareness?

Smaller business gifts like key chains, stickers, notepads and pens, have limited imprint areas. On the other hand, custom bags and backpacks provide bigger and better brand exposure with bigger imprint areas.

Logos on bags are clearer compared to those imprinted on a pen or a sticky pad. Clients are more likely to identify your brand when it grabs their attention like that than if it were laser-engraved on a fountain pen sticking out from your chest pocket. Logos printed on them are only effective when they are in use. They become ineffectual when kept in a drawer or in a box. That defeats the purpose of giving out promotional products, doesn’t it?

Logo back packs and messenger bags are your own mobile signs. Circulate as many as you can to as many people during trade shows, expos and conferences. Logo exposure does not end after distributing your giveaway messenger bags and backpacks. In fact, that is only the beginning. Your brand name, company logo, or trademark silk screened or embroidered on custom messenger bags and backpacks will be displayed to everyone in each place it is taken. Imagine your company logo being seen by diverse of people in malls, supermarkets, on the streets, in schools, in churches, and nearly everywhere.

You can also use wholesale custom backpacks and bags as employee appreciation and holiday gifts. Show your employees that you value their loyalty and service to your company. Reinforce your relationships with them by handing out promotional messenger bags and backpacks as part of your employee rewards program or make them a part of your gift list for the end of the year.

Finally, when purchasing promotional messenger bags and backpacks, buy in bulk to get more value for every dollar spent. The more you order, the lower their price become by the piece.

Pinch & Tap Harmonics for Lead Guitar

September 30th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Music

Pinch Harmonic

“Pinch harmonic is a typical guitar scream. It is often played by the guitar players to rip into the solo and to play one or more notes that simply scream and sound awesome. The rules remain the same but this time all the action depends on how you pick the string.

While playing the pinch harmonic guitar player not only picks note as normal, but also lets his thumb brush up against the note precisely after he picks it. The thumb is setting up the node of the “harmonic” and forcing the strings to vibrate with the desired harmonic series. If you crank the gain and treble up, after employing the technique in proper way, you will always get a screaming harmonic of some kind.

As with other harmonics you need to fine tune the exact position you are utilizing to strike the melodic point, and you can even exchange between different harmonic types in between notes. Since Pinch Harmonics are performed near the bridge, we are selecting from the higher harmonics, so we find high notes. Some higher harmonics also include inharmonic components, adding to the scream. A lot of the possible actions are here within a small space – we get more because the guitar is artificially sensitive to the higher order harmonics as be having upped the gain a lot.

Tap Harmonic

A “Tap Harmonic” is simply like an “Artificial Harmonic”; the difference between them is that the “tap harmonic” practices a single action- to do a tap, instead of separately touching and plucking the string. For this you require to tap the string softly so that it very briefly hits the fret underneath it and remove your finger very speedily. The tap sets the string in vibration and at the same time creates the node in the correct place – so naturally you need to tap the string at the right point essential to set up the “harmonic” you wish.

Whammy Bar Harmonics

Ultimately, the “Whammy Bar Harmonic” is akin to the “tap harmonic”, the only difference is that while playing “tap harmonic” you select very high order harmonics, and there is no fret beneath the exact point you need to strike, therefore, you require to practice a whipping action to set the string vibrating and deaden it in the accurate spot to set up the desirable node. That is why; “whammy harmonics” are about the most challenging “harmonic” technique. A good point to do this is on the G string between the 2nd and 3rd frets – depending on the right position you whip. In this way, you can get 3 or 4 different harmonic series. Simply remember that before you whip, push your whammy bar down, and after the tap release it and add a few vibrato – with this technique you can find some crazy screams.

How Does My Community Host an Outdoor Movie Event?

September 30th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Arts & Entertainment

Outdoor Movie nights in Australia have become hugely popular over the past 5 years but most of them have been run by big event companies who can afford to spend big dollars. This has meant for small local communities hosting an outdoor movie event is just not possible due to the cost. This is no longer the case with a select number of outdoor event companies who are now specialising in small, medium and large community outdoor movie nights.

With the option to host a movie night for under $1000 for groups under 200 people, more communities are beginning to see that running such an event at their local park is now possible.

Most community groups who have hosted a movie night over the past 2 -3 years have been so impressed with how successful the event went and the funds they were able to raise that they have continued to run the same event year on year with the only difference being the film shown.

Searching the web for an event company to assist you with your outdoor movie night is your initial step. Though there are only a few companies that offer this service they seem to have already secured a large percentage of the market as almost all groups that are using them have booked another event with the same company for the following year.

By supplying a huge inflatable screen, AV equipment and fundraising advice community groups are not only blown away with how exciting and crowd pleasing the night is but how easy it is to raise money for a worthwhile cause whilst enabling the whole community to come together to support one another.

Before you start marketing your event you do need to consider the following points:

1. Where will the movie night be located

2. Ensure that the area is big enough for both equipment and audience

3. Gain permission for the area

4. Look into outdoor events company that specialises in Outdoor Movies and talk with them

5. Select a film to be played

6. Then begin publicizing your event

Still sounding a bit too technical? Remember that by hiring an events company you can lean on them to ensure the correct equipment is used, including; what size inflatable screen, how many lumens the projector should have, how loud should the audio system be and all safety requirements are met.

Lastly, the weather is also a big consideration when determining when to host an Outdoor Cinema night. The ideal time of year for Outdoor Movies is between September and May as this will ensure your audience does not freeze and the amount of people willing to sit outside on a warm night is much larger. Rain is forever an issue but one advantage of our dry climate in Australia is the chances of getting rained out is very low, but you could also consider an indoor alternative in case mother nature does not want to play nice.

If you’re looking to put on the perfect outdoor cinema experience for your school or community then look no further then the screen rental & events experts Big Screen Hire. Our affordable, unbeatable solutions will turn any event into a spectacular success!
